When it comes to dessert, it is just the best when you can eat without guilt, am I right? Think spirulina, dates, hemp, cacao, peaches and peppermint…..
Well, when it comes to this dessert you don’t have to worry about your figure or digestion taking a hit. The base ingredient is, of course, the wonderful banana. You can get creative with the add-ins, but here you will find my top 4 favourite way to do the beloved…
NANA NICE CREAM
And I know what you’re thinking… it’s too good to be just dessert! And you’re right, these recipes frequently end up being my lunch or breakfast on any given day. So eat your banana heart out.
This is ridiculously easy and quick, and doesn’t allow for any excuse to eat the normal dairy ice cream ever again (which is packed with fat, hormones, animal protein and flavourings).
Each of these recipes only has 2 or 3 ingredients, and each ingredient is extremely beneficial to you. So go ahead and eat your nice cream.
One thing you will need to do ahead of time is freeze your bananas. I get my bananas in bulk from Spud Vancouver (sustainable, local, organic food delivered to my door). $7.50 for a big box of them!
Because a freezer without bananas, is no freezer at all.
Crvan-MurJub is a code you can use to get 20$ off of your first order at Spud Vancouver 🙂 That’s a lot of free bananas!
How I freeze my bananas:
Peel them.
Break them in half.
Place them in a big zip lock.
Freeze for at least a couple of hours.
ONE THING I always have in the freezer, is a big bag of frozen nanas. Because, this is just needed in life.
I use my Vitamix blender to make my Nice Cream, but any high-powered blender, or food processor will do the trick.
So, what flavours are we talking about today?
Cookies and Cream Nana Nice Cream
Spirulina Peppermint Nana Nice Cream
Cacao Hemp Nana Nice Cream
Okanagan Peachy Nana Nice Cream (THANK you to my friend, Dana, for bringing me a box of peaches from her place in Oliver. There’s nothing like peaches straight from your friend’s tree.)
Benefits:
Bananas are high in potassium, B6 and fibre. They’re well-known stars in helping during the time of the month and leg cramps. Diabetics benefit from the fibre, your mood benefits from the tryptaphan.
Spirulina, Cacao and Hemp seeds are all considered ‘superfoods’ (nutrient-rich and considered to be highly beneficial for your health and well-being’). Vitality, longevity and clean energy HELLO. Spirulina=protein, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory. Cacao = antioxidants and magnesium. Hemp seeds = full spectrem protein and essential fatty acids.
Peaches are immune-boosting, anti-oxidizing, and great for your skin. Peppermint is a digestive star.
