There’s just something special about warm apples. Then when you add in some campfire smoke, plus an oaty-datey topper, it just gets to be out of this world!
This is a great one to show off to your friends this summer. It’s so easy to prepare before you head out into the wilderness, then all you need to do is throw it on the hot coals.

Ingredients:
4 Apples (your favourite kind – macintosh cooks the fastest)
1/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
5 Dates chopped into bits
1tbsp maple syrup
Directions:
Home Prep :
Mix all ingredients except apples. Bring camping in tupperware.
At the fire:
-Core the apples. Leave 1/4 inch of the bottom in tact (like a bowl)
-Fill the apple bowl with the mixture
-Wrap in tin foil and place on the fire until soft (about 10 minutes on coals)
